Everything I make, I make for my future self. Each piece guides me in some way into my own center, my own power (humble power, not ego power), my own femininity as I understand it, my own embodied safety, my own uniqueness as a being, my own self-acceptance. I also tend not to really understand the piece until a little while after it's done! I don't create with a finished product in mind. I take it step by step until something very unexpected shows up.
I tend to work with the naked form a lot...and I believe it represents being seen bare, unguarded, as I am unmasked, a chosen/controlled vulnerability perhaps.
I love acrylic paint, colored paper, magazine bits, beads. I really love painting on cardboard.

NatureSelf
As I grow older and slightly more wise, I sense that we aren't just co-existing with nature...we are nature. On my spiritual journey, I feel like I'm just continuously in bloom...a walking rose.
Shadows
I found myself really wanting to embellish and make beautiful the shadows on this form and realized what a journey I've been on of loving my own shadows, seeing them as worthy of my love and presence.
Balanced
"Yin" and "yang" started to make sense to me well after I finished this and found myself in acupuncture school. I see the fire and the water in me, the masculine and feminine, in perfect balance in this piece.
